  • Looking for the name of a book about a dying boy trying to fix things before he goes.?

All i remember is that the boy/teenager finds out he is dying and only has a few months to live. He decided to fix/do as many things as possible before he goes; including making sure his,handicapped/disable brother will be alright without him and asking out the girl he has a crush on. I only remember a bit of the synopsis but it sounds similar to the book Deadline by Chris Crutcher.

Soundproofing a concrete shed/garage? My shed makes everything louder.?

Just today i had a large apex concrete shed installed that i am going to use it as my workshop. The shed is mostly made of thick concrete walls and slabs that are bolted together. However i noticed that there is an echo and using any electric tool creates a lot of noise, more so than if used outside. The room seems to amplify the noise and i would have expected the opposite with thick concrete walls. The shed is empty so i expect that is the reason for the echo but not really for amplifying the sound. I don't care how loud it is inside but how loud it is outside since i have neighbours.

The side door and large front opening are made of metal and i notice the sound and echo is less if i open the door. It seems to me that these two doors are the problem, especially the large front opening. There is little other steel used on the shed, and i don't thick concrete amplifies sound. Can i use foam board it soundproof them? They are designed with a framing on the inside so it seems quite simple just to cut the foam to size and put it in. If so what foam board should i use? I don't need it to be soundproof but just enough to lessen the sounds outside.

  • Vinyl cutting service for hobby electro- etching (UK). Does anyone know an inexpensive place in the UK?

I need to get some vinyl designs cut out so i can stick them to metal and electro-etch the designs. I have looked around and have been unable to see a smaller, inexpensive service that will do this in the UK. I'm only doing this for a hobby so i don't need a meter long sheet of stickers. All i want is a service that will use a vinyl cutter to cut out my designs on a self adhesive vinyl sheet. The colour of the vinyl does not matter as i am only using the vinyl as a stencil.

  • Can you make a ring out of brass?

I am unsure if you can make a ring out of brass, I was told that it might cause skin problems. If so i did see some inexpressive silver plating solutions, would that work? I'm just starting a project to turn a ring on my lathe.

  • Joining a designed face to a ring, need a method of joining that is not permanent.?

I'm making a ring on my lathe that will have a disk with a design on it that will fix to the ring. The idea is that the disk can be swapped out with another disk with a different design each time. I need a way to join the two pieces together that can easily be undone and is small enough to fit on a ring. I'm turning the face and the ring on my lathe it will be made of brass so magnets won't work. I was thinking of threading the face (bolt) and tapping the ring (nut) but i am unsure of how to do this so the design is face straight forward and is not upside down or wonky.

  • Google chrome keeps opening up by itself with two tabs, one google the other the getting started tab.?

I asked this question before. Google Chrome kept opening a new tab by itself. It didn't do any damage but was annoying. Now this continues but when i start my laptop, if i wait a few minutes Google Chrome will open by itself with two tabs. One is just Google.com, the other is a get started tab for introducing new users on how to use Google Chrome. It also reshuffles and gets rid of my most visited sites in the tab page. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Google Chrome but it has not solved it. I've disabled Chrome on my start-up but it still opens itself. I've also tried scanning the laptop but nothing came up. Has anyone got any ideas?

  • Google Chrome keeps randomly opening a new tab, even when not in use.?

A few days ago i noticed that the new tab page would randomly come up. I thought that i might have accidentally clicked on something but i have checked and it is not me. It only opens to the new tab page so there is not website in use. It is not causing any problems but it is annoying and i wonder if there is a problem. It has even happened when i have not had the browser open. It just did it by itself. Google chrome did update a few days ago, perhaps it is an update glitch?

  • Is the old method of making iron from iron ore the same method as making steel?

I'm talking about the method in which iron ore is put into a clay furnace between layers of charcoal. The iron ore melts and forms a bloom at the bottom of the furnace. I've looked at multiple videos of this on youtube and it seems to be the same method of making steel. i think the steel making method is originally Japanese but it seems to be a similar method.

What is the difference between these very similar methods where one is used to produce iron and the other steel.

  • Best way to fibreglass a thin core material?

I am making various fibreglass dishes and am going to use a thin foam core as the sandwich material. Using fibreglass cloth, what is the best method of covering the sandwich material. I want to minimise my work and don't want to have to trim of excess fibreglass.

  • Good Fiberglass DVD/Book?

I need a good DVD or book on fiberglassing and using other materials like kevlar and carbon fiber. I don't need anything complex just a guide on how to use the materials and what properties they have when used.

  • What did you think of the comic Teen Titans vol 3 (2003-2011 run)?

(Spoilers)I've been read most of them and i feel very disappointed. Most of the emotional parts don't seem to be done very well and they skip a lot of potentially great parts. I especially wanted to see Beastboy's transformation into an phoenix and Ravager dealing with Eddie's death but they just glance over it. As well as this no one seems to have any fun and team is just a bunch of people put together. Are all DC comics like this? Can you recommend any good DC comicbook runs? What did you think of the comic?

  • Blacksmithing question. How do you use a forge with a horizontal blower/tue iron?

I've recently gotten an old military forge to do my blacksmithing with but I'm finding it hard to use. I'm finding the horizontal air output to be difficult to heat up the coke as it either glances off or does not heat a large enough area to work with. I'm not quite sure whether or not i am supposed to cover the air output (tue iron) with coke or am i supposed to pile the coke near it. I'm using a proper blacksmith forge blower and coke as my fuel. An help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Blacksmithing question. What are some protective coatings for my forgings?

  • Blacksmithing question. Hot coke keeps blowing up and out of the forge.?

I've just made myself a forge with a steel body and a firebrick firepot. I've been using a hair dryer as a blower but even when the firepot is full small pieces of hot coke keep shooting out. Is it the hairdryer? I'm using the lowest speed already. If it's the hair dryer what would solve this problem or what would be a better blower?

  • What are some cool ideas for candles?

I am planning to sell unique designed candles online. I have a lot of experience creating 3d models so complex designs are not really a problem, Does anyone have any good ideas for candle designs that are good or would sell?
