Another one gone. RIP to all our canine friends who have gone before us. I will always love and miss you.
If someone approached you, politely and respectfully, in a grocery store parking lot, and asked you if you would please help ...?
... cover the cost of a few (very basic) food items, how would you respond?
Would you immediately suspect a scam? Would you take this person at his word that he really did need help to buy some groceries? What would factor into your decision on whether or not to help this person who was asking?
Has this ever happened to you? It did to me a few days ago, and I was rather surprised by what I did. How have you responded, or how would you respond, in this situation?
20 AnswersEtiquette1 year agoIf you're given a gift card, is it OK to use it to buy something for someone else?
If you're the person who gave the card, would you be offended if I used your gift to pay it forward to someone in need?
10 AnswersEtiquette1 year agoThe Masked Singer (if you watch it) ... Why do we even watch this show? I love it and I don't know why!?
Were you surprised that the Flower was Patti LaBelle?
Who do you think is the Leopard? Who is the Rottweiler? I have good guesses for both, but I'm not sure.
Who is the Flamingo? That one has me completely confused.
Have you been shocked by any of the unmaskings this season? I never EVER thought the Ladybug was Kelly Osbourne!
Just a fun question, let me know what you think! Thanks!
2 AnswersCelebrities1 year agoAny tips on how to transition a dog from a no-pull (front clip) harness to walking nicely on a simple collar and lead?
This dog (new to me, and I am still learning this dog) has been allowed to get away with too much for too long (long story).
The front-clip harness does work in that it prevents her from lunging and pulling (it turns her sideways if she tries) -- but I don't like the look of it or the feeling that I'm reacting to or correcting bad behavior. It corrects an unwanted behavior but I don't think she learns much by being flipped over sideways if she misbehaves.
This is not a pup. She's 7 years old, she's a pit bull, her head is plenty large but her neck is bigger and she can back out of a collar if she wants to. And she is strong enough to do that.
I'd rather not use a prong collar if there's another way. I will if I have to.
We want our dog to walk happily and confidently alongside us wherever we go, and not feel that she is constantly being admonished or corrected.
I know, the older a dog is, the harder it is to break habits or change behaviors.
Thanks for any help, I do appreciate it.
7 AnswersDogs2 years agoNewly-acquired dog (long story) doesn't like loud *boom* sounds -- thunder, gunshots, fireworks -- Any desensitization tips?
This dog, otherwise very calm and well-mannered, has reacted badly in the past to sudden loud noises.
I already know not to give her extra attention when she shows anxiety or to reward reactive behavior.
My question is, how to build her confidence, so she understands that loud noises are just loud noises, not something to fear?
Of COURSE I will research this, and the dog is under the care of a behaviorist. Again, long story. Just hoping that other owners might have and be willing to share insight on what they've tried, what worked or didn't, for a dog with a similar anxiety issue.
Appreciate any help, thank you!
5 AnswersDogs2 years agoPit bull owners, please help. How do you handle the negativity, what do you say or do, regarding the wrong assumptions about the breed?
I asked a question about this dog a few days ago and got really nothing much more than smack and disdain in response.

I love this dog and I will NOT give up on her. She is not some evil creature.
I just want to give this dog her best life, and I think we can, but would appreciate help and advice from anyone familiar with owning and managing the pit bull breed.
Thank you.
2 AnswersDogs2 years agoAPBT owners and those experienced with the breed, I'd appreciate your help. How best to manage this dog?
We (husband and I) are probably going to soon take ownership of one of our grand-dogs, a pit bull, primarily because our daughter's other 2 dogs are boisterous and rambunctious, and she (the pit) doesn't like it.
She's generally calm and very lovey. But she gets anxious and destructive (she has dug and chewed through walls) when left alone.
I have NO experience with this breed. But I love this dog to bits and I hope to make it work out. Any help is appreciated, thank you!
5 AnswersDogs2 years agoIs it possible to root and grow a new aloe plant from a (oops, accidental) leaf cutting? If so, how? Thank you.?
So I was cleaning up some dead stuff on a few of my mature aloe plants and accidentally snipped off a new, bright green, young leaf. Should I let it callous, then plant it? Or plant it right away? In water or in potting medium? Sunlight, or no? Indoors or outdoors (this was from an indoor plant.)
Any advice is appreciated, thank you.
2 AnswersGarden & Landscape2 years agoBetty Crocker Noodles Romanoff (remember those?) Is there a copycat recipe that's close?
The 2-step boxed side dish for which you had to drain the noodles -- my husband loved those. There are lots of copycat recipes online, but is there one you've tried that actually duplicates that side dish? If so, could you please share that recipe?
Cooking & Recipes3 years agoIf you find a lost or abandoned animal (in this instance, a very young kitten) which clearly has health problems requiring a vet ...?
... should you feel obligated to take it to your own vet for evaluation and treatment? If so, are you willing to take responsibility for payment and for the animal's ultimate placement in a new home?
Or is it better to try to take it to a shelter and hope they'll be able to get it the care it needs and, if it recovers, into a good home? Not even sure if any shelter would accept an animal so young, sick, and needy.
This happened to me today and I'm wondering if I did the right thing. Thank you.
6 AnswersCats4 years agoIf 2 people have a common great-grandfather, what is their relationship to each other?
Sorry, I'm not at all familiar with the ancestry or family-tree terminology. I don't know what it means to be the second-, or third-, cousin, or what it means to be once-, twice-, thrice-removed, etc.
I've found someone whose grandfather would have been a brother to my grandfather. And that would make her mom a first cousin to my dad? (Is that right?) Please explain how she and I are related?
Thank you!
7 AnswersGenealogy4 years agoAre sawhorses a standard height?
I found a pair of (what appear to be) OLD and quite rustic (wood and steel) sawhorses at a flea market, but didn't have a measuring tape so I don't know how tall they are.
I'm thinking to maybe use them as legs for a desk, but I'm not sure if they will be too low. I'm sure I could find another use for them, but just wondered if there's a standard for height?
Thanks!
9 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)4 years agoAre there advantages to feeding a senior-formula diet?
For years I bought Kirkland Select (Costco) brand which was an all-life stages food, and that made sense when I was feeding 3 dogs and using over 6 cups per day.
Now I have just one small(ish) dog who eats a scant one cup per day, and don't see the need to buy that huge bag. I'd like to switch him to an equivalent feed, but should I choose a formula especially for senior dogs? He's 11 years old (best guess, I don't really know, he's a rescue and I've had him for 9 years) -- and in great health. Are there any specific advantages to a senior feed as compared to an all-life stages formula? Any suggestions for a new brand are greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

22 AnswersYahoo Answers5 years agoAny idea why CNN didn't show Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown's speech at the DNC?
The CNN commentators used the time during his speech to analyze the preceding speeches. He was given a really prominent speaking slot, so why wouldn't they show it?
Did other news networks broadcast his speech?
2 AnswersElections5 years agoIf you've successfully appealed a reported question within the past week, will you please explain (see Details)?
►Did you appeal using the form included with the Report Notice email? Or the alternate appeal form? Or both?
►Were you notified that your appeal was successful and that your question had been restored? If so, did you find out by checking Notifications (top left), did you receive an notification email, or both?
►Roughly how long was it between when you appealed and when your question was restored?
►Were any of the answers present at the time your question was reported/deleted missing from the question when it was restored?
Just trying to figure a few things out. Thanks.
11 AnswersYahoo Answers5 years agoDoes 'format misuse' include asking a 'question' in order to post an ANSWER to a different question, due to having been blocked?
Saw this earlier, a user who was blocked from answering one question posted a question, then used 'Details' to post a blathering rant ANSWER to the other question.
Is it OK to do that? Or should that 'question' be reported? And if so, what would be the violation?
Thanks.
5 AnswersYahoo Answers5 years agoWhat product or additive will reduce the opacity of acrylic paint without thinning the consistency?
I'm painting wooden crates and want the knots and wood grain to show through the paint. So, more like a stained than painted effect.
Will an acrylic gel medium work? If so, can it be used with craft as well as artist acrylics (I mix small amounts of artist paints into a base of craft paint to make my colors)?

Or is every violation that is appealed automatically restored?
3 AnswersYahoo Answers5 years agoWill this mixture kill grass?
I read an article today promoting 'green' (rather than chemical) weed killers, and I'm wondering if this mix will kill off some unwanted grass:
*White vinegar
*Table salt
*Liquid dish soap
If it works, does it take long? Will it hurt the soil, or trees/shrubs planted in the area AFTER treatment? I'm trying to establish a mulched bed alongside the foundation, and don't want to sacrifice my nice landscape shrubs and plants!
Thanks!
