Is it possible for someone to lose their ability to feel emotions?
I'm 37. Over the last 2 years I have slowly been losing my ability to feel anything at all. I stopped caring what I did for a living. I stopped caring if I communicated with other human beings. I stopped wanting to feel happy. I don't think about, or care about other people. I can't get mad or sad at all...help or don't ... it doesn't really matter.
6 AnswersPsychology10 years agoI feel empty inside, like I'm an actor playing a role?
Since my late teens I have felt like there is nothing in me, like I'm a hollow empty shell that I pretend to fill up with emotions and feelings that aren't there. I don't care about anyone really or anything and I see no purpose in anything. I used to be able to feel really strong emotions like rage and love, but over the course of the last couple of years even those have escaped me...now I'm nothing at all. Pain doesn't even register really...I just ignore it or inflict it.
What is wrong with me?
1 AnswerMental Health10 years agoWhy would an attractive 19 year old (girl) want to be friends with a married (unattractive) 36 year old (man)?
So, I've been going to college for a while now as a returning student and over the course of the second semester, this girl has become quite attached to me. She is always wanting to go out to lunch, movies, walks, texting constantly, homework together. I've asked her several times what the deal is, and she has said things like, "I really like you." and "We're friends and you'll just have to get used to it." I've told her on several occasions that I'm married, that we can't be friends, but she waves it off and says, "too bad, we are." On several occasions she has texted me with messages like "I miss you!! I want to see you!!" and one time when I accidentally texted her "Do you hate me?" (her previous text had popped up and I didn't realize...sent to the wrong person >_> what can I say, I'm old) she texted back, "I could never hate you!"
What the hell man! I'm very confused. I'm not the kind of person who makes friends easily. As a matter of fact I have exactly zero (unless this is a real friendship) currently.
I'm also becoming quite fond of her myself as I'm not great at guarding my emotions having had little practice.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated...and I'm not trolling...I'm not nearly that creative.
13 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoIf I told you I had a gripping vision of a terrible catastrophe in the U.S.A., would you believe me?
I was wrenched from sleep last night, drenched in sweat and crying out as I hovered above a horrible maelstrom of destruction in the Western United States. I flew, in my minds eye, over the ravaged cities of the west coast, hundreds of thousands of corpses lying amongst the rubble. Huge fires and chocking smoke filled the sky for hundreds of miles. Nothing was left standing; skyscrapers, shopping malls, homes...all were obliterated.
A voice slammed through my skull, jarring me awake as I said: "WARN THEM!"
What should I do?

1 AnswerSingles & Dating1 decade agoIs polygamy the answer?
My current wife and her friend are like sisters and I can see the sexual tension between them. I also had a sexual relationship with the friend before my wife and I got married. I've broached the topic with my wife and she isn't completely against the idea and I believe the friend would like to be with me again (and my wife). I'm a very logical person and won't cheat, but I think I could love them both. What should I do?

I've got 15 years experience in the pizza business. Everything up to management. Never run my own business before though. Should I go for it?
5 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhy do people who win huge lotteries always say they will stay at their horrible jobs?
I really don't understand this at all!! It must be a lie, right? I mean, take for instance this woman who just won 21 million dollars in Ontario, Canada...she's a cashier at a grocery store. Apparently, she was quoted by the "media" as saying, "I'll be staying at my job." I mean, what the HELL! If it were me, I'd be quoted with something VERY different, I can tell you that RIGHT NOW!
So, can you tell me why?

What I mean is, is there a way to test to see if time is slowing down or speeding up? How would you check for that?

1 AnswerYahoo Answers1 decade agoShould 50% of the American budget for Defense be redirected into Free Education for any American?
Think about it. 50% of $533.8 billion is 216.4 billion dollars. More than enough to continue paying troops (there are 3,385,400 troops active, reserve and paramilitary) *with current technology* while supporting the current equipment we have. Then perhaps 10-15 million Americans could be given approximately $14,400 each year. You could then have a system of application which allows only technological areas of study. The technology sector would get a huge boost with plenty of new jobs created and America would start making money again. Well?

I mean, lets say someone introduced something called the "world dollar" that superseded and replaced all dollars and would be worth the same amount everywhere. How would that change the average life?

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCould a good argument be made that evolution is moving toward ever more complex brains?
Could it be rigorously shown through specific examples and careful plotting of growth throughout evolutionary history that brain and nervous systems have been increasingly more complicated? Also, could it be shown that there has been a positive, accelerating evolutionary response in the last few million years? Has there been research done on this? Am I completely misunderstanding evolution?
2 AnswersOther - Science1 decade agoIs there any spiritual meaning behind accidentally slicing your left palm on Halloween?
I was carving a pumpkin and accidentally sliced my left palm open from the middle base all the way up through the center and out between the 2nd and 3rd fingers. Is there any mysticism around such a happenstance?
