  • Morab horse or Tennessee walking horse?

I am interested in purchasing a horse within the next two years. I have been researching different breeds and have narrowed it down to two breeds, the morab and the tenneessee walking horse. (before I get it I will have completed courses such as riding, tack, etc and would have spent time volunteering at a stable so I can be an adequate owner). I have researched what people think of both breeds online but does anyone have actual personal experience with either breed?

  • Morab/general horse info?

I am moving back to texas and have been toying with the idea of buying a morab gelding thats already an adult. Iwould not purchase the horse until a year or so after im settled in in which I will be taking private riding/tack lessons and volunteering at a nearby stable, but I want some insight now! I would love to have a younger horse that I can grow with in expierence, but being relatively new to the horse world outside of trail riding a few times, I think that an older, calmer, trained horse would be the best move for someone like me. I looked at mares too but people said that the mares, tend to be flighty and for a beginner like myself I dont think thatd be a smart move... I have researched shoeing, bathing, riding styles (ive been accustomed to western), and training, too. I have been researching breeds and I have always been a fan of the arabians and when I found out about the morab I just fell in love. Powerful body and lungs, endurance and speed, etc sounds great to me! I have been looking at prices in many different states and although I can afford the horse and supplies and found a place that will full stable it for an affordable price, im curious as to what else should I know.

does anyone have personal expierence with morabs? Are they really the sound tempered creatures that the internet portrays them as? How much are horse vaccinations annually? Are bitless reins better than ones with bits? (bitless seems more comfortable and humane to me but is there really a difference? If I get a morab for pleasure only is it necessary to shoe it or would it be better to leave it "barefoot"? Do horses seem to have a preference whether their rider rides western or english? How often do you bath/brush/shoe a horse?
