  • If I break the rules on the GRE will the person proctoring the test tell me?

I'm worried I may have written on my scratch paper when I read about what was needed in the argument essay (what they were looking for in it so what should I be including etc. is stuff I put on the paper to refer to when I write it), not when I saw the argument question. If this wasn't allowed, would I have been told this, or will I just discover belatedly that I've been disqualified? I'm really very worried about this, so any input would help.

  • Why do I get a low fever (around 99.1 - 99.4) if I get less than six hours of sleep?

This isn't a one time thing. Over many years, every time I can't manage at least six hours of sleep, I have a fever for the entire day/until I can catch up on sleep. Does anyone else experience this? Or does anyone perchance know why this happens?

  • Yoga DVD with NO Downward-Facing Dog?

I have a couple syndromes and one of the best things for me to do is to practice yoga. My doctor has told me this for years, but every time I try a class or a DVD I go nuts because either 1) the teacher talks non-stop 2) there's a plethora of downward-facing dog moves, which upset my sinuses and give me unbelievably horrible headaches.

So, I figured this would be the best place to ask if anyone has any good recommendations for Yoga DVDs that have minimal downward-facing dog moves (if any at all) and are good for toning the body/stress relief?

  • How long does aloe vera juice last?

I bought some pure aloe vera juice a few months ago, but I'm hesitant to continue using it as it does not have any preservatives in it. I can't find any date on the bottle and it's hard to find any information on-line about this. How long does aloe vera juice stay unspoiled? Would you be able to tell if it went bad? I took a sip of it and it tasted a little more tart than I remembered - is that a sign of it spoiling?

  • Am I sick from stopping birth control???

I am not sexually active. The doc put me on bc back when I was 15 (I turn 23 this august) for an assumed endometriosis. Ever since (after an initial switch from some pill that made me have a period for 2 whole months) then I have been taking Microgestin Fe 1.5/30. Whenever I wouldn't refill quickly enough and miss a few days I would start feeling pretty sick. Last week I decided enough was enough - it simply isn't healthy to be on these to begin with, let alone over 5 years - and stopped after my package was done.

Sure enough, I'm sick again, but I'm confused by these symptoms! I'm nauseated to the point where I think I may throw up, but then I'm also having serious dizziness (not moving, turning my head, you name it) and when I stand up I get that lightheaded feeling and my vision blurs.

I'm not finding anyone with similar symptoms beyond being nauseated on the internet. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms after stopping bc, or should I be calling a health professional?

  • Why does my cat love seaweed?

My former male kitty and my current male kitty go absolutely nuts whenever I pull out dried seaweed for sushi. I used to feed my previous kitty some seaweed when he'd paw at me for it (he disappeared one day, but until that point he had no diagnosed health issues). I started to give my current cat a little seaweed, but my Japanese friend told me that it's bad to give them that because they can get kidney infections? Is this true?

  • Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome?

In March of 07 I was diagnosed with EDS when RA was suspected. Before this I was diagnosed by someone I can't even remember with Fibromyalgia after negative tests for Lupus. (Why is it always a jump to "you have a syndrome" when an initial test for something comes up negative?) Also, I couldn't tell you what type I have, the doctor didn't specify if it's classic or hypermobility.

What I don't understand is: isn't EDS supposed to be hereditary? No one I know in my family has this or symptoms similar to mine (except apparently my paternal great-grandma had RA, which seems like a pretty big long shot). How is it that I could have EDS?

(Did Arizona once again provide me with a cruddy doctor?)

  • Tonsil stones and Water Picks?

So I've read a lot of ways to deal with tonsil stones. Here's my issue:

I get the ones that are easily coaxed off by a q-tip or gargling on my right tonsil. My left, however, looks nothing like my right. It's very lumpy and I see little white parts of the tonsil stones peeking out from behind the swollen tonsil.

I'm NOT going to try and push them or dig them out. I'd rather not bleed everywhere and give my throat a chance for a worser sort of infection.

I'm NOT going to get surgery to have them removed.

What I want to know...is that for anyone with tonsil stones that deep inside to where you can just see tiny peeks of them: do water picks work for those?

My doctors (ENT and general) are irritatingly stupid sometimes (they even admit these things to me in their office when explaining how they don't know what to do). So, I'd appreciate your answer on this that isn't "go to the doctor."

    Thank you g

  • Black Mold Self-Removal?

I found a lot of black mold growing between my clear mat (for roller chairs) and mexican tile. I read that using white fermented vinegar is actually better than bleach. Seeing as I have this sort of tile I figured it was better as well. I just went through and scrubbed up as much as I could, but a lot of it is still stained on there. I left the vinegar sitting on there. My friend told me that it took her a week to remove all her black mold using vinegar. Does anyone have any other specific instructions I can use? If you know how to use vinegar to clean up black mold, do you know how often I should clean this each day?

  • Pinpricks of pain/itching with dertmatitis?

Lately I've had a lot of painful pinprick sensations (that also turn to itching) all over my skin anywhere. Sometimes it's over a lot of my body and other times just certain areas, but it will be EVERYWHERE there's just no place on my body that wont have this at one time or another. Is this a common symptom of dermatitis? I have that and eczema, I'm just worried if this is something different or not. I'm in AZ, so it's super super dry here.

  • Do I have mites?! Help I'M FRANTIC!!?

My friend just found out she had mites (probably from birds) and APPARENTLY has had them for about two weeks now. I'm totally freaking out because she can see the mites apparently, but I'm reading that you can't see some mites? I really really don't do well the idea of any sort of bug infestation I'm already to the point of crying.

My skin has been itching for a while, but I have dermatitis so I can't really rely just on that. I don't know what else to do! I'm having my friend come over to check my bed and see if she can spot any, but is there anything else I can do!? I really can't handle having mites!

  • Black spots in stools?

I've had a lot of intestinal problems for a very long time. I even had a colonoscopy and it showed everything was normal. I sometimes am not even able to eat because I get so nauseated and ill after eating and the pain in my intestines is intense. I was diagnosed with IBS, yet I have never been tested for ulcers. Lately my stomach has been burning so badly that my doctor gave me acid blockers (to take only temporarily).

To my question: I often get black speckles all in my stools. They look like coffee grinds (yet all the info says it's an ulcer symptom if you vomit coffee grinds, does this not apply for it in the stools?)

Lately, I've been getting large black spots in my stools. Now is this what the doctors mean when they ask if there's blood in the stools? I can never get a clear answer.

  • HIV Detection?

I know you should have protected sex and all that. In fact I haven't even wanted sex and have abstained from it, but back in highschool I was raped and I know it's possible for HIV to take up to 10 years to show up, which is horrifying. Do you know if there has to be a specific test for HIV, or would it be apparent if someone had a full blood work done? I recently had an entire blood panel done where they measured white blood count, etc. I'm planning on getting a test specifically for HIV, but I'm curious if it would be obvious in the blood work I just had done? I have to wait until Thursday to ask for the test, so I'd love any sort of peace of mind I can get.

  • Can you get allergy tests for weed?

All my life my mom has smoked pot and I've been sick all my life. It's been a lot of sinus problems and I realized in 2006 that I have milk and wheat allergies. Especially in the 1-2 years I've become worse with intestinal problems as well as sinus problems. I've had allergy testing that involved delayed reactions (a hive behind my knee and a rash behind my ear down my neck on the arm that had the injections) that my allergist didn't care about. So i get to go to another allergist. Are they able to test for allergies to pot, or is that not possible? I obviously can't ask my mom to stop smoking pot (trust me I've tried so I don't want advice on that). With how sick I am all the time I can't get a job and move out to see if it's the weed making me ill. It's a big double-bind.

  • Tonsil stones with a low-grade fever?

I have been having a lot of ENT problems, which the theory is from allergies. Anyway I am sometimes suseptible to getting those tonsil stones. This year, however, I've had them so badly in my left tonsil. It keep recurring in the same spot in this deep cavity/hole. My allergist at a previous one last month said one was an infection and gave me antibiotics. I got ANOTHER tonsil stone (I think this is my 3rd-4th this year) in the same spot. I am getting low grade fevers with it, which my doctor said could happen if things became infected. I finally just scraped what I could out today, but I know there's more deep inside that I don't want to irritate my tonsils even more.

No where online do I read of anyone having low-grade fevers with these tonsil stones. I have the ear pain for sure, but I also keep getting a temperature in the low 99 range. Does anyone else have this? My doctor didn't give me any anti-biotics for this, but if it's infected, I have a fever and can't get all of it out~

  • Help Help! I'm having an allergic reaction, but I don't know what kind!?

Pretty rapidly my right hand broke out in flat red small splotches primarily on the backs of my knuckles and it's also a little on my left hand. I was dusting a LOT today going through layers of dust, so I'm wondering if it's contact eczema. HOWEVER I also ate this special pasta that's made of whole black soybeans and about 2 hours later this developed. I have had a ton of soy products, but I'm not sure about "black" soybeans. My hand is really itching and washing it with soap and water isn't helping and neither is lotion! I don't have any benadryl either, but I took a zyrtec-d earlier today and don't know if I should be taking anything else with that.

  • Bruised swollen big toe after an ironing board fell on it...?

Yes.. last night there was a small ironing board hanging on the door and when I opened it, it fell directly onto the joint of my big toe (I wasn't wearing any shoes) and hurt(s) a LOT. I elevated and iced it for twenty minutes right after. Today I'm doing the same. The toe is swollen and bruised at the joint. It hurts the most when I (accidentally) bend the toe.

Is this something I can wait a while to see the doctor if it doesn't get better, or should I go see her promptly?

    Thanks.

  • Alternative to Neti Pot for sinus cleansing?

I have a lot of sinus congestion due to illness after illness. I was doing a sinus cleanse every day, but my ears have been very congested (I had to go on steroids a number of times for them). So, I can't use the neti pot while my ears are like this, but I still have so much mucus! I spit up a ton of yellow mucus in the morning and typically the rest is clear for the day. So, I'm teetering on the edge of getting my THIRD sinus infection this year and all my doctors do is give me anti-biotic after anti-biotic (I have also started taking Astelin, but it ran out after 4 days as it only has 16 sprays and I was told to do 2 sprays twice daily). I'm really nervous about getting sicker than I already am again! Any alternative suggestions?
