Please tell me how you dealt with your son reaching the age of 18....My son is a good young man and hasn't ever given me trouble. He hasn't decided (yet) to move out on his own. I just can't make myself, I guess the word is, let go. I know he is smart and makes wise choices but I am still his Mama and it's born in me to want to make sure he is ok. I don't shadow over him, make him check in, or keep tabs on him. Am I wrong for wanting a phone call just to let me know he's alright? Am I wrong to expect a phone call when he's staying at a friend's house overnight? Do 18 year old boy's usually give up their family to "hang out" with friends? It is just breaking my heart. Not to mention keeping my nerves tore up. Mother's, Am I wrong? Please help me rationalize, help me understand. Let me know if you think I am over reacting. Thanks in Advance.

This person doesn't get mean, or violent, or want to start a fight or be involved with a fight or anything of that nature. They just drink every day. It started out with a glass of wine, then got to 3 glasses of wine, and now is has gotten to one full box of the Franzia Boxed wine each night. I am not totally against drinking. I think social drinking is acceptable. Our children see this person in a "drunken" state. This person has no patience when he is in the "drunken" state, he snaps at our children for no reason. Says hurtful things to my children as well as myself that he would never say when not drinking. He is very short with my children and myself when we try to talk to him. I will not be intimate with him while he is in the "drunken" state, so our life has been changed drastically. I am just worried mentally and psycially about our relationship.....not to mention financially. Franzia is $12.00 a box times 7 days a week. times 4 weeks in a month $336. He thinks he is not wrong.
