Safety of PPI Use?
I am an active 27 year old male who is in shape, with no other health issues other than acid reflux which developed a few months ago. I've been taking omeprazole 20mg every day for about two weeks now (out of a four week course of treatment). I am concerned about adverse effects on my kidneys, as there have been multiple peer-reviewed studies which confirm that PPI use can produce adverse outcomes on kidney function and even induce CKD.
Am I being paranoid? Is a four week course negligible? Thanks in advance for your response.
1 AnswerOther - Diseases2 weeks agoRisks Associated with Omeprezole ?
I am a 26 year old male who is relatively fit and active.
Recently, I have developed a severe case of acid reflux. My doctor prescribed Omeprezole 20mg once a day for three weeks.
I did some research on this medication and I've read that it can damage kidneys (kill kidney cells and lead to magnesium deficiency).
Should I be concerned about taking this medication for three weeks? Are the risks minimal? I am a little worried about this treatment option.
Thanks.
3 AnswersOther - Diseases2 months agoDid I damage my eye/increase cancer risk?
So I was working on my broken Meade telescope, trying to fix it in the garage
Unfortunately, I had it pointed up towards a fluorescent light (a large, rectangle fixture installed on the ceiling).Stupid me, I wasn't thinking and I peered through the optics with one eye to ensure it was functioning properly. Of course, the light was incredibly bright and I moved away after about two seconds. Do you think I may have done damage to my eye, or increased my chances of cancer of the eye significantly. I've read such light emit UV rays.

So, moronically, I turned my microwave on for about 25 seconds in an effort to heat food which was wrapped in aluminum foil. I then left the room; I didn't notice any sparking. When I returned, everything seemed to be normal (no smoke or evidence of burning). I was just wondering - should I be considered with having consumed the food? Is the reaction cancerous, or does it pose a health risk of some kind. I am pretty concerned. Thanks in advance.

I mistakenly breathed in fumes of about 2-3 matches while lighting my pipe. Upon reading that the inhalation of sulfur dioxide is of potentially serious concern medically speaking, I am frightful as to the nature of my situation as of now. Naturally, I have some anxieties as to what the consequences might be, if nothing at all.

Have gotten cigarette smoke in eyes and received a slight white bolt that runs down the left side of my right pupil (doctor said this was due to the Sun). I am kind of worried.
