  • How can I add Windows Form functionality to a web application using Visual Studio 2010 and ASP.NET 4?

Specifically, I want to use a Windows style form containing a geographic map image that would allow a user to select icons (small images) on the map and move them around using the mouse, while the program processes information and outcomes based on these movements. Some ideas or a reference containing such information would be great! Thanks.

  • Who owns or controls the West Bank in the middle east?

I am writing an online game and I need to know what country to assign the West Bank to. Obviously, I don't want to offend anyone and I need to put it under one or more country's control. Is there a current map showing who owns which part as of this moment?

  • Has the US Stock Market already hit bottom?

If you look at the major indexes (DJIA, NASDAQ, S&P500) that day seems to have been March 9, 2009 for all three. Surely we can do better than that! A famous investor once said: "There really is only one way to spot a market bottom...and that's looking back at it". Is that what we have here? I've got cash in hand and ready to jump in head first. What does it look like when we are at the bottom anyway?

  • How does my garlic know it is Spring?

Every year about this time, I notice that certain vegetables (garlic, onions, etc.) that I have had in my refrigerator some how know it is Spring? They begin to grow roots or green stems or leaves as if planted in the ground. They do not do this during the Winter or Summer. How is this possible if they are in the refrigerator that is not opened to the outside environment? What physical signs do they have in this closed chamber under such controlled conditions?

  • Where can I get a 2009 photo calendar template that is publishing grade?

I am interested in finding a 2009 photo calendar template to generate a publishing quality calendar similar to what you see at Borders or Barnes & Noble book stores. I would like to be able to completely customize a calendar, including using my own photos, adding text, maybe small thumbnail pics within different dates, add the holidays and events I want, moon phases, etc. I would also like to generate a pdf and jpg files of this calendar I create.

  • How can Match dot com online dating service get away with stealing money from people?

I don't have any problem with the service they provide, just the sneaky way they take people for their money. The Match dot com company automatically charges your credit card without your permission, just because they disclose an agreement to do so on their website. When a customer opens an account there is no other choice or option. They setup all accounts that way whether you like it or not. That's not an agreement. That's a scam. How can they get away with such a crooked way to scam money off of people? They claim that each customer enters into such an agreement with Match by the use of their website, but that is such a lie, because no one agreed to anything. They just decided to set it up that way, because it maximizes their profits. No one would knowingly agree to let a company take money out of their bank account or credit card without permission. What can I do about it? What federal agency can I submit a complaint to? Why hasn't someone done anything about this?

  • What percentage of Girl Scout Cookie revenue ends up in the hands of the girl scouts?

Everyone bends over backwards and digs deep into their pockets every year to help out the Girl Scouts with their cookie drive, as if they stayed up all night baking them. I am sure this is exactly what the Girl Scout Cookie manufacturer wants us to believe. So what percentage actually ends up in the hands of the Girl Scouts, and what percentage ends up in the hands of this corporation?

I heard the other day that the moon is actually moving further and further away from the Earth. What is the force or body that is drawing the moon further and further away from the earth?

  • Is the Earth slowly moving further away from or closer to the sun over time?

If the Earth is traveling around the more massive sun, what keeps the earth from eventually crashing into the sun? What is the driving force that is resulting in a net migration of the Earth towards or away from the sun over millions of years?

  • How could school work and homework ever compete with video games? Any ideas?

My son and his friends go after Halo 3 and Guitar Hero like they are mad scientists on the verge of a cure for cancer. They could stay up all night, skip meals, even turn down a trip to the mall, just to get to the next level on their video game. How can educators ever generate such enthusiasm and interest for academics? Who says academics have to be so boring? Who says we couldn’t merge the two (video games and academics)? How can we do it?

  • Can anyone recommend a good telescope to purchase and use along with my Nikon D40x digital slr camera?

I recently used my Nikon D40x digital slr camera to take some photos of the full moon with a 200mm telephoto. After that experience, I am interested in purchasing a telescope that I can use along with my Nikon D40x to take even better photos of the moon and other night sky bodies. Can anyone recommend a good telescope that would be good for this purpose. I would prefer to spend well under $1000 for any telescope and gear. Thanks.

  • Why do foods that contain vegetables spoil so much quicker than those that do not?

Have you ever tried to eat that Taco Bell taco with all the trimmings the next day...or that vegetable and meat pizza the second day?...Then you know what I mean...however, if you wanted to eat that meat only pizza or taco that has no vegetables, everything is fine...so obviously the difference is the presence of vegetables...what is going on?

  • Saving a modified bitmap file using Visual Basic Net?

How can I load a bitmap file into a picturebox, draw some graphics on it, then save the end result using Visual Basic Net code? I want to save it to the same or a new bitmap file (*.bmp). It is a large bitmap file, so it is not possible to view the entire contents in the picturebox at once. The code I execute to draw the new graphics does cover the entire image file, and not just the particular viewed portion. I am able to accomplish everything except the end result in my new saved file. The newly drawn graphics are missing from the save image, or I get a blank screen (no graphics at all). Thanks.

  • As president of the US, what would you do about the Iraq quagmire?

With all the criticism and condemnation that we have all participated in, what if you woke up tomorrow morning, only to discover that you are the president of the United States. As president of the US, what would you do about the Iraq quagmire? Would you pull out all American troops immediately and admit defeat, or would you provide the war generals with everything they needed to control the situation, defeat the insurgents, and return Iraq to its people? Here is your chance. Please, no “nuke em statements”.

  • Engineers & Scientists - Can You Help Our Troops?

I just saw National Geographic Channel’s “Iraq’s Guns for Hire”. One of the points made on IED’s (improvised explosive devices), was that they are often set off using a cell phone signal or even a garage door opener signal. These devices have killed over 1,000 coalition and supporting forces. If this is the case, wouldn’t it be possible to have our troops vehicles equipped with a signal generating device (radio & cell waves, etc.) to set these explosives off ~100 yards in front of our troops before they get there? Obviously, we would have to make sure there were no other coalition forces in front of the vehicle, but still a way to have them go off away from their intended target. Maybe we can have them go off as the insurgents are setting these things up. What do you think? Can this work? The NG program will air again on Jan 29th and Feb 4th.

  • What will we do if we loose 10,000 troops in a single terrorist act in Iraq?

Now that we are in the middle of a new troop surge into Iraq, that will place more troops in harms way, than we have ever before in the history of this war. All those troops will also be vulnerable to a single act of terrorism. What do you recommend the US do if such a attack actually happens (remember Beirut)? Would we bring all of our troops home then, or would we loose all consciousness, and attack our enemies with a vengeance never before seen? What do you think?
