  • Bone Marrow infection?

My father had undergone a hip joint replacement. He has been diagnosed as having infection within bone. He was advised C Reactive Protein Test, based on which diagnosis was made by the doctor. This infection was contracted during operation. He is prescribed with Linezolid 600 mg twice a day 10 days. How good is Linezolid for such infections?

Doctor suggested if antibiotic is not able to help, then he may have to be operated for replacing the prosthesis.

My father has COPD and putting him on Anasthesia is a risk. Also doctor says that he may have to be operated twice once to remove the prosthesis&put antibiotics&then after some days, put a new prosthesis. His X-Ray report says:"Mild reduction in hip joint spaces. Otherwise Pelvic girdle bones appear normal in morphology. No erosion or osteolytic area. Both sacroiliac joints are unremarkable. Soft tissue planes are well maintained. "

Is there any other way to deal with this symptom so that the operation can be avoided? Please help !!!

  • My father had femur bone fracture on both legs. Now he has steel implants.Having too much pain in legs.Help pls

He is having tremendous pain in both his thighs on the front side much below the incision area. (Incision was on back side). It has been 5 1/2 months now and the pain is not reducing. X-Rays' reports are normal and orthopedic doctor says everthing is fine, but the pain would stay for some more months. He has difficulty in standing and has to walk with much pain usign a walker. Can someone please suggest something? Standard medications like acetaminophen, nimesulide is not helping anymore. Someone suggested Ayurvedic oils from Kerala helps in reducing pain. Any contacts for that? I would be extremely helpful is someone can help as it is equally painful for me to see him in so much pain.

  • In Osteoporosis, How to avoid breaking bones?

My father, 67 years old, is having osteoporosis. He had a left hip joint replacement last year, due to a femur head fracture. Yesterday his right femur head broke. He has been already been diagnosed with Osteoporosis. He is also having COPD. Can someone please let me know what medicines to be taken in order to avoid any further progress of the disease and to ensure that he does not get any further broken bones. As he told us, he cannot make out how he falls down. Both the time, he fell on flat ground on the side, with nothing like water to slip on or any other factor that can make someone fall. I am extremely distressed to see this. Can some doctor or others with similar experience please help and advise me? My dad stays in Kolkata (Calcutta), India. If someone can advise on some local center that specializes in such cases, then also it would be of much help.
