  • Why can't you make comments at the end of Yahoo Canada news stories anymore?

The inability to make comments at the end of stories seems like Yahoo US and Yahoo UK. The comment section was such a nice feature on the Canadian site...does anyone else miss it??

  • Why isn't Yahoo Canada fixing it's News blog problem? the "More" does not reveal more comments, is blank page?

This has been going on for more than a week, and I have noticed other people commenting on this fact. It is frustrating because you cannot read comments beyond the last 5 posted and you actually can miss reading your own if several people post at the same time.

Surely Yahoo is aware of the problem, i for one have written them and have read comments from others saying they are ignored also.

  • Who is the new Armed Forces Radio if the Bear 106.9 FM Ottawa is now Virgin 106.9 FM ?

On Jan 9, 2009 at 4pm, the Bear FM 106.9 Ottawa, became Virgin 106.9 FM. It is too early for a web page, so there is little information out there. The Bear used to be the official radio station of the Armed Forces. Now who is aired overseas? and who supports them? I read that the new station is aimed at 25-54 year old males. see: http://www.digitalhome.ca/content/view/3297/288/

How stupid is that? So all the female Bear listeners are supposed to listen to what? I didn't know radio stations aimed themselves at only one sex. I am thinking this is a sexist move. What do you think?

  • If Governor General Jean allows a Socialist Coalition to take over Canada's government will the British care?

Governor General Jean is Queen Elizabeth's representative in Canada. She is Haitian born, nominated by the previous Liberal government and married to a Quebec Separatist.

The Coalition Government will be made of Liberals (Labour, Grits) and the New Democrat Party (NDP, socialist-union supported) with the Bloc agreeing to support them for 18 months, but are not part of the Coalition and will have no seats in cabinet.

Oct 2008 Election Results: Tory Minority

    Conservative (Tory) 143 seats

    Liberal (Grit) 77 seats

    NDP (Socialist) 37 seats

    Bloc Quebecois (Separatist) 49 seats

    Independent 2 seats

  • Why did police use a taser on a 17 year old with a knife, killing him, but tried to talk with Li on the bus?

As soon as they arrived, police should have entered the bus and tasered him instead of allowing Li to continue to mutilate and eat the victim! Does anyone else agree? Many people wish he had just been shot, but if you use a taser, often multiple times, you can accidentally kill the pshyco..wink wink.

  • Is it Fruit or Fruits?

I grew up that it was fruit and vegetables. Fruit was a plural word like fish. A fish, thousands of fish. A fruit , many fruit. I notice that many people and signs say fruits and vegetables. At first I thought this addition of an "s" on signs was due to the French influence in the Ottawa area. Then I thought it was an Americanism because it was in print. However, last year, I saw the word fruits on signs in Britain. Am I crazy. Does anyone else remember fruit as a plural word?

  • What makes someone legally a man?

If Thomas is a pregnant man, but has ovaries, a uterus and a vagina, how is he/she legally a man? Is a testosterone induced penis the only thing that makes you legally a man? He/she may have had her breasts surgicaly removed...well come on, men have breasts too, how did she get designated legally male? I am so confused. Her hormone levels are oviously female for reproduction.....has this affected the penis?

  • What is better, Early French Immersion or Late French Immersion???

New Brunswick is making it sound like they are the first to have late immersion and that there is no data to back up their claims to make the change, but there has been late immersion in Ottawa for years. My own daughter is graduating this year from grade 12 French immersion that she started in grade 4, what we referred to as late immersion.

  • How can the Alberta SPCA seize starving horses from Rancher, then auction them to a slaughter house?

I thought rescue agencies tried to nurse seized animals and re-home them, euthanizing only the ones they cannot save!

  • Should Sikhs be exempt from wearing helmets based on their religious beliefs?

This is all protective helmets, including motorcycle, construction and military ones. It should be noted that in India, the Indian Armed Forces requires all soldiers to wear helmets, no exceptions. So they must wear them there, why not here.

  • When Great Britain, Canada and Australia all spell it labour, why do American writers spell it labor?

I am talking about the proper name of political parties. The Labour Party, or Labour for short is a proper noun. Today's article about Australia's apology: "Rudd made the apology the first item of parliamentary business for centre-left Labor, which won power in November last year, ending almost 12 years of conservative rule." It should read centre-left Labour. Then I notice that centre is spelt correctly and I wonder who exactly wrote this article? In Canada, Britain and Australia it is centre-left Labour and in USA it is center-left Labor.....totally messed up!

  • Why on earth does Canada have black history month?

I am not sure how it started, but one day my kids told me it was black history month in school. I find this offensive to all the Natives of this land who have not been given a month to teach about their contribution to Canada. They helped the British and French in their wars and helped the Canadians in their war with the States! They helped with the first winters and taught us abuout Vitamin C to cure and prevent scurvy! Seems to me we helped the blacks escape slavery, what exactly did they do for us? How about all the settlers; the Scots in the Maritimes, the Ukrainians in the West, the Chinese in the far West (What about Chinese month to remember all the people opened the West by building the railway! ).....so many nations made up and continue to make up this melting pot called Canada. Who thought up this Black month and how did they get away with it?????
