3 AnswersOther - General Health Care10 years agoWhy would your blood pressure go down after a cartoid stent procedure?
My dad's operation was today. The stent took 2.5 hrs to put in place. They went up his left side groin. (Right side had already had a bypass). The procedure went fine, but after the operation we were told that his blood pressure was low... I think it was something like 70/44??(can't be sure ) .. they had to work to bring it back up. Does this mean he had a heart attack following the procedure or are there other potential causes of a low blood pressure after a procedure?....Also, for those of you who have helped with advice on previous postings... thanks. Looks like dad is good to go again for at least another 5 years.... yeah!
8 AnswersHeart Diseases1 decade agocarotid endarterectomy vs stent...is the stent safer?
Hi, Dear dad is having the stent put into his carotid artery on Thursday. It's a 3 hour operation. Is this safer than a carotid endarterectomy? He's actually on blood thinners right now heparin I think they called it. I think maybe they didn't want to cut him open. Apparently a balloon goes up through the gunky artery and then it scrapes everything out then a metal band holds the artery open. I know with hardening of the arteries sometimes the arteries get twisty and turny. Okay, you folks who know... is this a risky situation, or is it like getting your appendix out. I thought the stent would be a lot safer...is it?
2 AnswersHeart Diseases1 decade agoMy Dad just had a mild stroke... He's been waiting for an operation to clear out his carotid artery?
Is there any chance that they won't do the operation now? Why did he have to wait so long for the surgery. He was supposed to have had it 2 weeks ago.
4 AnswersHeart Diseases1 decade agoHave you had a bully for a boss?
My boss tries to get me to pay for business items rather than charge the company, tells me she'd fire me if she had a bigger ego. Tells me that I'm not as good as I think I am.Tells me that I accomplished my objectives too late in the year, so accomplishing them does not count and therefore no bonus... etc. What has your experience been? Tell me I'm not alone. What happened to your bully? Mine has slowly and steadily gained more power.
2 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoWhat are the chances of survival for carotid endarterectomy?
What I know is my dad has 80% blockage of the artery in his neck. He was told he has a 20% chance of stroke in the next two years. He is having TIA's. In the last two weeks multiple times of loss of vision in his eyes, but the sight cleared up.
If he has the surgery what are his chances of survival? I don't know how risky this surgery is.
2 AnswersHeart Diseases1 decade agoMy dad has had TIAs.. He has lost the sight in his eyes temprorarily.. Is this a problem?
The surgeon said that 80% of his artery is blocked with placque. He has a 20% chance of a stroke in 2 years... Is it better to not have the operation, or have the operation and risk death? Also add links to your answer if you have any.

My sister received a jar of pickle bums from her father in law. My mother in law gave me ear rings that had a rusted stem on them (and could not be worn) mY mother in law also bought us a comforter that looks like the inside of a sleeping bag. And she got angry when I told her I didn't much like it. How about you what are your worst experiences?

17 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhich news story is more interesting? Mount Hood climbers or bombing in Iraq?
Those climbers were insane. They didn't take enough food and weren't dressed warm enough. The polaroid pictures found on Kelly's camera prove how insane they were. They must have had a death wish. Did we really have to hear about this all week long? Would you rather hear about this or explosions in Iraq
