Does this guy Maxx really not know that the ocean is deep?
He looks at the ocean surface and asks about temperature. Everyone with half a brain understands that ocean current patterns fluctuate change the surface. The prominence of the La Nina pattern in the Pacific in recent decades by definition brings icy cold water from the depths to the surface. That has slowed warming of the atmosphere and accelerated the warming of the ocean. A third grader understands that heat moves more quickly to a colder surface. Perhaps Maxx has never picked up and ice cube. The best way to see ocean warming is to look at sea level which is rising because the oceans are warming and expanding. Every sixth grader knows that water expands as is warms. Sea level is now constantly measured by satellite.

Maxx is a guy who blocks educated people, then posts highly uneducated items. Readers can judge the basic intellect and education of climate change deniers by reading his posts. If you don't believe water expands when it warms, you might be a denier.
15 AnswersGlobal Warming8 years agoWhy does Pat ask questions when he does not want to learn anything?
New guy to YA is a great example of idiot deniers. He asks questions then blocks those who give informative science-based answers. This is a great example of those who either cannot or choose not to digest scientific information.
On the day that the GOP restricts the States rights to seat Libertarian-oriented delgates, we have Pat not wanting to hear science, and Ottawa Mike denying that there is either a drought or a hurricane.
Is is better to confront stupid people or ignore them?
9 AnswersGlobal Warming9 years agoWhat would happen if we stopped emitting CO2?
This is asked of people who believe either that the environment is not warming or is warming totally or mostly naturally. If mankind were to stop emitting CO2 and other greenhouse gases, what do you believe would happen? What physical reactions would be in play?
* The environment would cool due to less greenhouse gas in the environment?
* Nothing, because emitting greenhouse gases do not cause greenhouse gases to accumulate in the environment?
* Nothing because there is no such thing as greenhouse gases or the greenhouse effect? It is something else that keeps the earth warm.
* Nothing because the greenhouse effect is real but only gases produced by God can cause the greenhouse effect; man is too puny to affect climate?
* Nothing because the greenhouse effect is either on or off: the natural amount of greenhouse gases causes the greenhouse effect but the amount of gases does not affect its strength?
* Very little because there are no positive feedbacks such as increased water vapor and decrease albedo?
* Nothing because the earth has some force that automatically cancells anything mankind does to it? What is that force?
* Nothing because the 35% increase in CO2 in the air since 1900 is too little to affect the strength of the greenhouse effect?
* Something else?
I am trying to understand you. If emitting greenhouse gases is not enhancing the greenhouse effect (or not significantly) , what do you believe would be different if we were to stop and why?
Thank you in advance for your honest and thoughtful answers.
11 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoIs there any possible natural reason for the entire globe to be .79 degrees warmer than last year?
http://discover.itsc.uah.edu/amsutemps/execute.csh...
This is from the UAH satellite data which Christy and Spencer assert is much more accurate than ground-based measurements and avoid Urban Heat Island distortions. The average global temperature at the surface level yesterday was .79 degrees warmer than the same date just a year ago. At this time last year we were in a El Nino pattern, now we are in a La Nina which is cooling the ocean surface, but the apparently warming of land is overwhelming that. The sun is still in a quiet period. .79 degrees in one year is a huge one-year increase (more than double the increase that the IPCC projected for each decade). I do understand that there is variation every year, but is there any possible natural reason for such extreme warming in one year especially considering that the strongest known natural variants would be contributing to cooling?
Even if some quirk in the data could explain the extreme increase on a specific date, is there a natural factor that could explain any warming versus last year?
15 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoWho are the leading sceptics of the conclusion that man is causing most Climate Change?
Who are they? Where have they published? What are they claiming to have found and what confidence have they ascribed to their findings? I am looking for good peer-reviewed research in my attempt to understand the case often presented here that there is a worldwide conspiracy. Please no links to blogs, I am looking for the real science to understand the studies and how they fit and contrast with the research presented by the IPCC. Thank you.
