Rock ON!

So I usually don't have problems determining the breeds that are in mixed breed dogs... But my dog is confusing me. I don't really care what breed she is, all I care is that she's healthy and happy, but it would be kind of cool just to get y'all's opinions on what you think she is. She was listed as a Boxer mix at the pound where we rescued her, but I'm starting to think she might be APBT / American Bulldog mix the more that I look at her. On some days she looks more Pit, other days she looks more Boxer. She is 1 & 1/2 years old, and also has a bunch of spots on her stomach. I would love to get you guys' opinions, so tell me what you think she is!

Hi there,

So I had a little bit of an issue today at the shelter where I work, with our Rottie/Hound mix. I was taking her for a walk in the park - she's extremely good on a leash and always gets really excited when going for a walk (she hops around and shakes her butt up in the air). When she calmed down, I took her for a nice long walk; we jogged for a while, I gave her some water, let her sniff around, and go to the bathroom.

The problem arose when we got back to the cage. I calmly took her back into her kennel (where she resisted a little bit; also all of the other dogs were excited and barking. So then I closed the door to the kennel, sat down and began to take off her leash. That must have triggered something in her because she just snapped at me really loudly and gnawed my arm slightly. She actually didn't even really bite me, she just put my hand in her mouth but then realized what she was doing and then stopped.

I guess what I'm wondering is what did I do wrong, and what can I do to prevent snapping in the future? I definitely want to break her of that habit before someone adopts her. I would say that I am a really calm person and assume that I usually provide that type of energy towards the dogs that I interact with, which is why I'm surprised that she snapped at me the way she did. Should I have waited until the dogs stopped barking to remove the leash? I'm just not sure what I did wrong! It's never happened to me before - this is the first time she's done it.

Her name is Pirate and she's been adopted. But there was a special connection she and I had - she licked me right when I walked into her cage to walk her. It's like she smiles when she looks at me :) So anyways, this woman came and adopted her; and I'm not upset that she got adopted - because it's my job to help people looking to adopt - it's just the woman's presence when she walked through the gate - (like a crazy middle-aged lady). First, she called her a "he," and then sympathetically laughed about her one eye, while making sure her friend and I both knew she had one eye.. Pirate gets put off when anyone acknowledges her one eye, and that's one of the things they taught us at the beginning of volunteer orientation for this shelter; to never directly acknowledge a dog's disabilities if they're content already. Also, Pirate needs you to get to her level when you play with her. It was obvious she was uncomfortable in this woman's arms so I took her, sat her down and she licked my face and rubbed her chin on my chest like she always does.

This woman gave me a weird vibe immediately when she walked in, and she didn't really smile at all. Maybe it's because I've grown attached to this dog specifically, I don't know. I'm just kind of hoping fate is on my side this once and that Pirate comes back to see me/doesn't like the owner, because I'm right for her and she's right for me. Honestly, I've never felt so loved by such a tiny animal ever since my beagle had to be put down (rest in peace my little man; your pawprint will forever be imprinted in my heart). Is this selfish of me, for wanting a dog that's already been adopted? What should I do? I would really just love to hold her and give her kisses...

It seems like EVERYTIME I open my mouth my jaw pops mainly on the left side and it's been bugging me so much. What do you guys think it could be?
