  • What can I do if I am caught in the middle with my mother and wife?

14 years ago, I married my wife. My mother didn't like her but pretended that she approved. She had done many things to make my wife's life miserable but she would do most of it when I wasn't around. My mother would even treat our children as my wife's children, not her own grand children and would not show a lot of affection. After 2 years, things became so bitter and I moved to another country. For some years, my mother would do various things to make life non-peaceful. Now my mother wants to mend the relationship. My wife demands that my mother apologizes for her past behavior and promise that she would be good to her and our children. My wife also as a temper and isn't willing to forgive easily. She has also told others about my mothers behavior to others which has made my mother quite angry. My mother wants to improve the relationship but refuses to apologize to my wife because she is too proud. A few times when I tried to get my wife to make up with my mother, she threatened to leave me. This is causing a lot of misery to our relationship and our children. I pray to God every day but can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. What can I do? They are both important to me. I realize my mother is important. But my wife is very important too because she is not only my wife but also the mother of our two children and is a very good mother too. I feel torn and depressed and seek help from God.

  • I want my wife to be my beneficiary in my last will. I want my children to get everything after she dies. How?

I am a Canadian Citizen and live in Ontario, Canada

I want my wife to be the beneficiary in my last will. But when when she dies, I want my children to automatically get everything we have. I could make her 100% in my will. If she makes our children beneficiaries in her last will, then it works fine.

The problem is that, my wife wants to do the exact same and make me her beneficiary such that our children will get everything after I die, but not before that. In case she dies before me, that I will be the beneficiary but I have her as my beneficiary in my will. It's like a catch 22.

How can we include this in our last will that we would like each other to be our beneficiaries and no matter who dies first, the children would not become beneficiaries until the the second one of us dies?

  • Can I save on Taxes with Spousal RRSP and withdrawing from RRSP in times of need?

I have a permanent job in Toronto, Ontario. My wife is a home maker is not working and does not plan to work. I do not have a large amount of savings and am therefore hesitant to put money in RRSP. I get taxed a lot especially for bonuses (about 35% each year). I know that, if I start a spousal RRSP, then upon retirement, due to split income, we will pay less taxes. However, since I don't have a lot of savings, if I put money in a spousal RRSP, can I withdraw money from that in case or urgency? If so, will only my wife have to pay taxes for that withdrawal? If so, since she has no income, will the taxes be very little or nothing or will there be other penalties? Also, we have a home which was is in both our names. If we buy a second home, can we withdraw/borrow money from the RRSP? I know that some RRSP's are locked versus others are not. I assume I can withdraw money from an unlocked RRSP. If the RRSP is in my wife's name, will there be any savings for the withdrawal compared to having the RRSP in my name?

  • How can I find foreclosed homes to buy and flip in Toronto?

I'm thinking of buying a property that has been taken away by banks (foreclose) so that I can do some renovation and sell it (flip it). I heard that banks often auction these properties. Where can I find a listing of such house? I tried MLS but don't think I saw any. Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Has anyone used the services of a company called "Stafflocater" in Toronto and Mississauga?

I'm searching for a job and came upon this company. They claim to connect me with potential employers and get me a job in a very short period of time. The catch is that, I would have to pay $340 to become their member and when I get a job, I will have to pay them 2.5% of my first years salary. I don't have a problem with giving 2.5% if they can get me a permanent job but I'm not feeling comfortable paying $340 just to become their member so that they will help me get a job. Is this a legitimate company or just another scam? Has anyone got a job through this company?

  • What's the best scenic and interesting driving route from Toronto to Dallas?

I'm planning to drive from Toronto to Dallas with my wife and 2 kids during Christmas vacation and then drive back after staying at Dallas for a few days. We plan to take about 3 days (each way) for travelling so that we can see a lot during the trip. We would be entering USA through either Buffalo or Detroit. What would be the most scenic routes that would also have some interesting places to pass through or stop by? Please suggest at least 2 routes so that we can take a different route returning.

  • Do any of you know about a company called "Kone Finance"?

Do any of you know about a company called "Kone Finance" ?

They recently posted a work-from-home job opportunity for Accounting clerk at Canada's Workopolis.com site. I know that many work-from-home job opportunities are scams. That's why I'm curious to know whether anyone has heard about "Kone Finance."
