  • Is it legal to move a couch with an SUV?

I live in Vancouver BC. I'm looking to buy a couch off Craigslist and was planning to move it to my house using my SUV (2005 Chevy TrailBlazer). I was planning to put the couch into the back of the SUV and with the tailgate open, then tying the couch in and using bungee cords to secure the tailgate/trunk. Does anyone know if this is definitely legal or illegal? I've heard that I may have to attach a red flag to the back, but I haven't found anything definitive. I'd probably be moving the couch anywhere from 5-30 km, possibly along a highway at some point.

  • PS3 controller still flashes when plugged in but won't turn on?

I bought a fourth DualShock3 PS3 controller a few months ago for when I have friends over. My other three controllers are all at least two years old now and have never had any problems. All of a sudden, the new controller won't turn on (plugged or unplugged). When I plug it into the PS3 via USB, the lights flash, but the controller still won't turn on. The weird thing is, the lights don't flash continuously like when a controller is charging normally. At first there are 3 short flashes. Then it just goes into a cycle of flashing slowly 10 times, pausing, then 10 times again, over and over.

I've tried the reset button multiple times; the lights stop flashing for a few seconds, then start the same cycle again, but the controller still won't turn on.

All my controllers are lightly used, and the newest one worked great until recently. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem?

  • New Orleans Hurricane Season?

My fiance and I are planning to go to New Orleans on our honeymoon in Sept 2011. However, I have heard that not only is this during the hurricane season (June-Nov) but Sept is the peak of hurricane season.

I was wondering if a lot of tourist activities and attractions get shut down during this time? Or will we still be able to enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer?

  • Jetta electrical problems?

I have a 1996 Jetta Trek (140,000 km) which I LOVE, but lately it's been having some electrical issues, which may or may not be related.

About a month ago the car wouldn't start, wouldn't jump and the alarm would go off when I tried to start it. I got it started once to find the clock reset and the radio in safe mode, so I replaced the battery and the problems ceased until now.

The other day I used my 12V air compressor to fill all four of my tires. Maybe this drained the battery too much because after doing this, the electric doors locks no longer work (and, thus, the alarm will no longer come on), the trunk latch button does nothing and the odometer and clock are blank when the car is off. The car still turns out no problem (no struggling at all). Once on, the clock and odometer come back on, although the clock has reset to 12:00. The radio works fine and does not go into safe mode. But the dome lights no longer work, whether the car is on or off. Does anyone know what is going on here or has had similar problems?? Any suggestions of how to begin troubleshooting? Thanks!

  • Is it ok to get married on a close relative's birthday?

My fiance and I would like to get married sometime next summer. However, I am a biologist and my field season also occurs during the summer. Timing-wise, it would therefore be best for us to get married towards the end of August (since a wedding at the beginning of the summer would be a little soon for us). Since we would also prefer a Saturday, it seems the only date that coincides with our preferences and the availability of the church and hall is August 27. However, this is also my grandmother's (who is still alive) birthday! Now, she is fairly easy-going and would likely not object (and I will of course ask for her opinion/permission) but I was wondering what the general opinion on getting married on a close relative's birthday was? Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on the subject? Are there any relevant rules (either explicit or unspoken) surrounding choosing a wedding date?
