Is a 48 hour sleep cycle medically safe to do?
I am considering permanently moving to a 48-hour waking cycle. Where I would sleep for 8-12 hours and remain awake for around 36 hours. I currently have insomnia and there are other factors involved that make it very unlikely for me to even get 6 hours of sleep confortably.
The way I plan it is to sleep Sunday, Tuesday, Thrusday & Saturday nights. That way over the weekend I get more sleep and refresh my batteries so to speak.
If anybody's have any long-term success with this, or if anybody has any good resoruces for me, I'd appreciate it. But is it life-threateningly unhealthy to do this? I ask because people who don't get sleep for a week can die, is is possible for a 48-hour cycle person to die from the aforementioned cycle of a 4-day week?
Suggestions and such are always welcome.
Other - Health1 decade agoA few questions for Christians?
1. Is your god all powerful or all knowing? Do not say both as it is a logical impossibility: to be all powerful would be to change things at his whim, to be all knowing would be to know exactly what will happen in the future. You cannot have a being capable of changing events at a whim if the future is known, as no influence is necessary and to change events is to change the future so he knew a false time line prior to his actions and therefore wasn't all knowing. So which is he?
2. If he is all powerful, is it possible for him to create a rock so large he cannot lift it? Either it is impossible for him to create something so massive he could not lift it as he is capable of impressive strength or he is powerful enough to make something he cannot move. See the problem with being all powerful? It's impossible and I defy you to refute this.
3. If he knows everything, how can we have free will as the future has been played out already in his eyes. We have no choice but what he knows.

12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI want to build a custom houseboat but not in the normal sense.?
I myself want to hand-build my own houseboat, but in an exotic way. First of all, I want this boat to be shaped hexagonally; I am not exactly intending it to go much further then where I put it initially so what's the best way to anchor it?
Second of all, I want it to be almost excessively buoyant, so I can put lots of weight on it. Most of that weight will be soil, as I'm intending to make my own floating yard. The house itself will be built on top of this lot, what methods techniques would be best to ensure maximum buoyancy on a budget.
Third, considering construction time is no object but material prices are, what would be the best materials for freshwater/seawater hulls. I'm not sure if I want to live on a freshwater lake or off the coast. What materials are best for this construction?
Thank you for your time.
2 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoThere is no proof of God, nor faith in logic; why do you try to use wrong logic?
If God(s) are objects of faith, then by definition it cannot be proven, as faith denotes belief without physical reason. The same is equally applied with logic, simply having faith in an event doesn't mean it'll happen; i.e. having faith you can fly by jumping off a building doesn't give you the capacity.
Those two things are a given. No amount of quotations from the bible or ad hominem logic will change an Atheists understanding just as no scientific proof will change a Christian's belief system. My question is why do Christians even bother trying to prove God to the Atheists, as proof is impossible?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMicronation, the basics.?
Lets say hypothetically I get an uninhabited island out in the middle of the pacific. If I buy it from a nation, do they still have legal precedence over it or is it effectively my own nation?
If it's theirs, can I succeed?
If I succeed, what kind of retaliation can I expect?
And finally, were I to successfully find an uncharted, unclaimed island and claimed it, starting my own nation, what should be my major priorities insofar as being a nation?
2 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoWhy should people who believe in God(s) be allowed the advances of technology?
Considering that technology assists people's lives and makes them better, why should anybody concerned with living in eternity after death use it? The reason being is that eternity is infinitely more then any number of years we live, if anything they should be killed immediately after baptism or similar religious experiences that make them 'pure' so they don't have a chance to mess up.
I don't mean to be hostile, I really don't, but this question bothers me. It's like having your cake and eating it too. They get the benefits of knowing they'll live cushy lives in heaven and the cushy lives here on earth with light and heat and proper food. It's being wasted on them.
Tell me why someone who lives for an afterlife should get the benefits here in this one.
21 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAs a Buddhist, is it ever acceptable to lie?
I followed the Therevada sect, and I am curious if it is ever acceptable to tell 'little white lies' to my friends for the sakes of their feelings. Given that in certain situations nothing will be gained by my honesty, but if I tell them the truth, it would hurt them. Also, is it fair to lie for a friend in any circumstaces?
