    Algae in fish tank?

We have a 6.8 oz tank for our beta with a filter and heater and noticed there's a lot of algae growing in it. The algae grows back within a couple of days after cleaning and becomes a problem if not regularly managed. There's a few decorative items in the tank, and we're working on getting a plant since our previous one died. Is there anyway to stop the algae from growing, or is it inevitable? Are there pros and cons to the algae being there? Thank you.

    * Buying a bigger tank isn't an option for now.

    * Image shows what two days of growth looks like, though it was lightly cleaned this morning.
