Is a chickpea a pea or a bean?
In answer to the question posted by someone who has blocked me, for unknown reasons:
Chickpeas, also called garbanzo beans, are legumes (so are peas, and many beans):
A legume (/ˈlɛɡjuːm/ or /ˌləˈɡjuːm/) is a plant in the family Fabaceae (or Leguminosae), or the fruit or seed of such a plant. Legumes are grown agriculturally, primarily for their food grain seed (example beans and lentils, or generally pulse), for livestock forage and silage, and as soil-enhancing green manure. Legumes are notable in that most of them have symbiotic nitrogen-fixing bacteria in structures called root nodules. Well-known legumes include alfalfa, clover, peas, beans, lentils, lupins, mesquite, carob, soybeans, peanuts and tamarind.
A legume fruit is a simple dry fruit that develops from a simple carpel and usually dehisces (opens along a seam) on two sides. A common name for this type of fruit is a pod, although the term "pod" is also applied to a few other fruit types, such as that of vanilla (a capsule) and of radish (a silique).

They are the main ingredient in hummus, and there are lots of other recipes for them:
6 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan6 years agoWhen is Y!A going to fix the avatar/image problem?
I used to have a photo uploaded from my PC as my avatar. While playing around with settings one night, it suddenly disappeared, and I'm unable to get it to appear on Y!A again. It still shows the image in my Preferences and Settings, but I can't change it, or make it visible on the boards. I did search for an answer to this issue, and found that "You are currently unable to upload/change an image, but the 'Yahoo Team' is working on this problem". Is Yahoo ever going to correct this? Does anyone on the 'team' even know how to manage a website, or write code? It's really lame that a company like Yahoo doesn't have anyone who can fix this minor issue.
2 AnswersYahoo Profiles6 years agoWhy do I have to enter a NEW password every time my session on Yahoo times out?
I've had to do this four times in the past three days and it's really starting to tick me off.

9 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan7 years agoIs anyone else as tired of cooking shows as I am?
There are so many contests; 'Makeovers'; 'Impossibles'; etc. etc., ad nauseum. Good grief; I like cooking, but I get tired of these shows.
9 AnswersOther - Food & Drink7 years agoWhy do rabid veg*ns block those who disagree with them?
I've seen this, and experienced this. What's up with the radical veg*ns, shutting people out who disagree with them? It only makes them look like close minded fools, who are unable to present their viewpoint rationally. Since they can't, they stick their fingers in their ears, and cry, "LALALALALALALA" Did you all know, that the ostrich doesn't really stick it's head in the sand, to avoid danger?
10 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan7 years agoHas anyone had a problem with ice cubes sticking to a new tray?
A tray that came with the fridge? I have one tray that gives me this problem all the time, but the other two that I bought from Amazon don't do this. They are all plastic, but, obviously, different kinds of plastic. Frustrating.
6 AnswersOther - Food & Drink8 years agoSuddenly spam is appearing in Y!A text boxes?
This morning the following spam link is being added to any 'answer', 'ask a question' or 'report' box that I open on Y!A. This is with the Chrome browser only; it doesn't happen in Firefox.
<a href=http://download.cnet.com/Free-Youtube-Downloader-P... >youtube downloader</a>
I'm also being redirected to various spam sites when I click on Google search results.
I know this is some sort of malware that has attached itself to Chrome, but neither Avast or AdAware are finding any problems.
Is anyone familiar with this problem, and do you have any ideas on removing the malware?
3 AnswersYahoo Answers8 years agoWindows 7 changes font size?
I Recently got a new laptop, with Windows 7 installed. I find that hovering the cursor does some strange things at times. Currently, two of the sites I visit (Y!A being one of them) now have very small fonts, and I can't figure out how to change the font size back to normal. Can anyone give advice on this issue?
3 AnswersSoftware9 years agoHas anyone made bread pudding with 'odd' bread ingredients?
I recently had some VERY stale (three months old) bakery cookies in my cabinet, that I didn't want to throw away, but they were too hard to eat (I only like soft cookies). I decided to try using them to make bread pudding. I used about 14-16 three inch cookies, 4 beaten eggs, 2 cups milk, and 3/4 cup brown sugar (with some ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg). I let the custard mixture sit in the baking dish with the crumbled cookies for about 45 minutes, to allow the cookies to soften up before baking. It came out GREAT!
I've used all manner of breads, from hamburger/hotdog rolls, to stale biscuits and muffins, but this was my first experiment with cookies.
Has anyone else used 'odd' breads to make bread pudding? I'm thinking of making a savory version (no sugar) using cornbread, garlic bagels, or Texas toast.
7 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHow long does an appeal take?
Six days ago, one of my answers was unfairly reported as 'abuse', in the Cooking and Recipes' section. I simply posted a recipe for bread pudding, and cited the source where I found the recipe.
When I received the email notice from Yahoo, I immediately appealed, and have been waiting for a response ever since. Since there is no 'Contact Us' option here, how do I find out the status of this? Are appeals usually ignored?
7 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWhy is it, that people don't look things up for themselves?
I've only been participating here for a couple weeks, but I've noticed a plethora of questions asking about simple, easily researched subjects:
How many teaspoons in a tablespoon?
How many ml in a cup?
What's the difference between ______milk, and _____milk?
What can I substitute for ____?
PEOPLE! You're using a computer to ask these questions! Can't you find Google?
Have we become so lazy, that having libraries of information at our fingertips is not enough; we have to ask someone else to punch the keys?
I can understand people asking for recipes, and techniques, but basic stuff? Sheesh!
What do you all think about this seeming laziness?
8 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoCheesecake Supreme recipe from 1980s Better Homes and Gardens cookbook?
I made this back in the early 80s, and it was the best cheesecake I've ever had. It's made with 8 packages of cream cheese, a dozen eggs, and uses a pastry crust. It's baked in a large springform tube pan. I've been unable to find the recipe again. Does anyone have this recipe?
I have found recipes that are 'close', but I really want to get that original...
