  • Is it illegal for an individual to charge interest on money lent?

I am based in Minnesota. Is it illegal to lend money and charge interest to other individuals? The other party would be required to put up collateral. What is the limit on how much interest you can charge?

  • Amp has 2 60 AMP fuses - How much power is the amp drawing from the alternator?

My car amplifier has 2 60AMP fuses. Is the max draw 60 amps as double protection or is it 120 amps max draw? The amp is a 1000 watt rms @ 1 ohm or 500 watt rms at 2 ohms. Any ideas? Im just trying to figure out if a stock civic alternator will keep up. And the sub is a DVC 4 ohm 300 rms 600 peak power.

    Thanks!

  • Do I qualify for the $8,000 homebuyer tax credit?

Here is the scoop. IRS.gov says you do not qualify for the credit if purchased from a close relative. Below is my story.

My uncle used to own the house. He passed away. it was inherited by my father and my uncle. I purchased the house from them. However, I don't think my dads or my living uncles name was ever on the deed so in theory the money went to my deceased uncles estate.

    Do I qualify?

  • What would the costs above the actual home purchase be on the following home?

    Hello all, Thanks for looking!

I am purchasing a home from a family member. The actual cost of the home is a heavily discounted $112,500. I know the home will appraise for at least $180k. The home is currently paid for. There will be no Realtor involved. What should I expect the closing costs to be? Do I avoid fees since the home is being sold by a family member and no Realtor is involved?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Will a 2003 Sebring coupe transmission work in a convertible?

Will a 2003 Sebring coupe transmission work in a convertible?

    Title says it all.

We have a 2003 Sebring convertible with 2.4L 4Cyl engine. The tranny needs to be swapped.

The bone yards in the area say they do not have one for the convertible model. I was able to find one from a coupe though.

Question is will the tranny from the coupe work on the convertible? Is it a direct fit? What is the difference? I would think it would bolt right up since the motor is the same. Is the difference the gear ratio?

I am not certain as this is not my car buy they were told that the transmission in the car now is a 41TE...

    Thanks in advance!
