I just want a horror movie that is actually scary.

However most of what's out there is completely unappealing to me.

I do not want 'classic' horror movies.

Nightmare on Elm street, Poltergeist, Halloween, Jason, Children of the corn, etc.

Yes, they were masterpieces of their time- But they are not 'scary'. They might have been scary when you were ten but for me they just don't hold up. They have just been copied and remade so much that they have become like their own tropes. Not to mention the 40 year old special effects are kind of comedic and are a total turn off.

I do not want pointless gore movies.

Saw, Human centipede, Hostel, etc.

Focusing only on blood and gore with no sensible plot or characters. Just bleh. They are only scary if you are squeamish.

I do not want comedy horror movies.

Eight legged freaks, Shawn of the dead, Gremlins, etc.

I want to be scared, not laughing.'Nuff said.

Most importantly I do not want generic monotonous horror movies.

Too many to even give examples.

Characters with no common sense, bad special effects, and a plot that makes no real sense. These movies account for 90% of the industry. Just poorly written drivel pumped out for the sake of having something new to watch on halloween.

I don't want to bash horror movies in general- its just that there's just so much crap out there to wade through that its hard to find anything actually scary AND interesting.

Any help?

I have been looking all over. from what I can find Old Supreme Kai from Dragonball Z is voiced by the actor "Kent Williams" While Avatar the Last Airbenders King Bumi is voiced by "Andre Sugliuzzo"

But no matter how many times I listen to them the voice is exactly the same.

The voices are just WAY too similar. Yet I cant find any connection between them.

Is this a real connection? Am I nuts? Or is it just a miraculous coincidence!?!

So I'm a guy in my early 20's looking for a part-time job. The problem is that I have pretty severe social anxiety. The only other job I've had was at a grocery store and the only reason even got it was because the the nice old lady interviewing me didn't really care how I presented myself or answered the questions because they were so shorthanded I already pretty much had the job.

I've been applying at fast food places, stores, and various businesses in my small town online- but I know that won't get me anywhere and that unless I physically go inside and talk to a manager or turn in a paper application then I'm essentially just throwing darts in the dark hoping one of them hits.

I just can't seem to work myself up to going in and turning in an application and talking to managers and whatnot. I don't know what to wear, what to say, how to phrase my questions, how to ask to see them, what times to go in, ect.

apart from basic guitar tabs and piano rolls like synthesia or fl studio I dont know how to read music, like at all. i can kinda grasp the basic gist of it- but most of it just goes over my head-- however i DO have a really good memory and can quickly learn, memorize, and play music without sheet music or any of that stuff in what a lot of people see as an unreasonably short amount of time- but from my point of view there seem to be a lot more people who can just read music and play it perfectly from the paper- sometimes without even hearing the song first- which to me is a lot more impressive.

aside from learning the instrument and all that- my question is this:

which do you guys find more impressive/difficult/enviable?

the ability to (in like... less than an hour or so) completely learn a song and play it perfectly just from memory but cant really read music.

or the ability to fluently read music and essentially play as you go along, sometimes without even hearing it before- provided in a lot of cases you REALLY need the paper to guide you along.

what do you guys think?

personally, i fall into the first category but am more envious of the second. sure i only need to spend a small amount of time watching a quick 'how to video' to memorize it and its a lot shorter than most people- but i would love to be able to read music or better yet play while reading- but the idea is just ludicrous to me- i dont know how they do it.

i was stupid and decided to try something new because of internet praise and recommendations.

ended up spending my drinking money on a case of beer which is pretty much undrinkable for me.

im too cheap to just throw it out,

i dont have the money to get another case of something actually good

and i am unable to try to chug it down without gagging- its just that bad

is their any way i can like trick myself into being able to drink it or force it down or whathaveyou

i have recently 'come to terms' with my bisexuality (for lack of a better phrase)

i find that most of the time its not really a 'both' type situation like most bisexuals; and that i only like one or the other at a given time. it typically alternates on a day to day basis- never being on the same one for more than 3 or 4 days at the most. and finding the opposite of my current 'type' fairly gross.

as if that wasnt bad enough the female category tends to go into sub-groups of like black, white and asian. and if im on one of my 'straight' days i STRONGLY prefer a specific ethnicity.

inversely on my 'gay' days it is very consistent- only being attracted other white guys my own age. there are occasionally variations on ethnicity but with like age or body type i find them just as repulsive as on my 'straight' days.

i have always been picky or vain with appearance- trauling through a ton of porn before finding anything watchable. my standards tend to be unreasonably high and different than other peoples- most celebrities i find just awful and strongly prefer the girl (or guy depending on the day) next door type look. i know this isnt really relevant- but for all i know it might be related somehow...

as for percentage i'd say its about 30% gay, 50% straight, and 20% both at the same time.

im pretty laid back and open minded- i have no problems with being gay or bisexual. its the freakin inconsistancy that annoys me. i have absolutely no real interest in being in a relationship at any time in the near future- but if i did it would be really hard to be with someone i cant even stomach most of the time!!!

is there a name for this? why am i so sexually screwed up? how would i deal with it when i inevitably get into a relationship?

i don't mean it in a mean way- for me ginger and cilantro tend to taste exactly like soap; and anything with it (no matter how small the amount) has an overpowering taste of soap.

i tried googling it- but all that turned up were threads with people arguing whether or not they like it; but there seems to be a percentage of people who legitimately find ginger and/or cilantro to taste exactly like soap!

what is the science behind this? why does it occur? what percentage of people have this dilema?

for me its not 100%- in most dishes even a sprinkle of ginger totaly ruins it for me and makes it taste like someone put dawn dish soap in it; while others like the orange ginger kfc sauce i find absolutely delicious

i keep buying little pocket notebooks (marble memo, staples brand, mini spiral notebooks) which iu keep in my back pocket to write down ideas when im on the go- but every one i buy ends up falling apart after a very short time.

any ideas what i can do to avoid this?

thinking about just forking out the extra money to buy a mini moleskin (those are supposed to be good right?)- but dont wanna do it if theres a simple fix for the cheap ones

anybody know of a documentary/short/youtube video/ or something of that nature- about the making of one of the late night talk shows like the late show or the tonight show or something.

i watched a few on stuff like hannibal burress's short on the leading up to his comedy central special, or the documentary about what conan did when he was off the air- but something i am pretty curious about is the making of one of the late night talk shows-- how they pick out topics and headlines, how they decide the best jokes/bits to use, how they book guests and prepare for interviews- just the workings of what goes into an average episode.

anybody seen anything?

I have a several part assignment where I am to write a couple separate story-essays about funny or interesting stories/anecdotes that have happened to me- the problem is I can't think of a thing.

for as long as I've spent most of my time in my room on the internet or playing video games, I have very few friends and rarely go out and do anything. I tried making a timeline of my life which helped think of a couple things- but nothing that would make a decent story.

are there any good ways I can brainstorm or think of an interesting anecdote or what kind of things I should be looking for, and how to make it as interesting as possible. I'm drawing a total blank.

I'm just curious if anybody has seen anything about jimmy carr's next stand-up dvd. He has released one every November for the last seven years- but I litterally haven't heard a thing about this years dvd and am getting discouraged that its going to be a while. I don't live in the UK so its hard to keep updated on stuff like this.

i have only made homemade mac and cheese twice- but both times it came out rather pale and bland.

last nights batch was an improvement- but it still felt it was missing something.

heres how i made it:

for the roux i used 3 tbsp flour with 4 tbsp country crock butter/margerine- and gradually stirred in 3 cups of milk. then i added 3 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, about 80% of a 15oz jar of cheese whiz, a handful of finely chopped sauted onions, and couple dashes of paprika and black pepper. then mixed in a small bag of american beatuy elbow pasta which i cooked boiled normally in water while making the sauce- put it all in a pan, sprinkled on about a cup of homemade breadcrumbs which i tossed around in a pan of melted butter for goodness, and baked it at 350 for a half hour.

it came out pretty good- but it just feels like its missing something. the mac and cheese itself is very pale, and doesnt look very cheesy. anything im missing or any tips to improve the next batch?

what is a 'good tasting' hard liquor. one that you don't have to 'acquire a taste for'

its been almost a year since i turned 21 and i havent been able to find anything i actually like- i've always been of picky tastes, and right now the only alcoholic drinks i can even stand the taste of are b&j blue hawaiian and cherry-lime smirnoff ice(but it gives me a stomach ache). i dont want to just be limited to 'ladies' drinks if you get where im coming from (plus they are pretty weak and you have to spend a ton of money before you even feel anything)

im looking for something hard that you dont really need to mix with anything else (more bang for your buck)

ie: something like scotch- but the way people describe it you have to sort of build up a taste for it, which i dont really like the thought of doing; drinking something that tastes like leather in the hopes that it will eventually taste good.

so far the only hard liquors ive tried are vodka- which was just god awful. even at a 10/1 ratio it made whatever i mixed it with taste like rubbing alcohol. and captain morgans spiced rum- burned my throat and was very unpleasant. it tasted ok once i mixed it to a very very small level (but that defeats the purpose of drinking alcohol)

i dont like being the killjoy that has to end up getting a soda.

it doesnt have to be 'sweet' just something that tastes 'good' and can be sipped or enjoyed. not something you have to dilute 10x or pound shots and shake your head afterwords.

can you guys think of anything i might like- please be as descriptive as possible.

how do you write (x^2)/8 or any variable numerator for that matter- in exponential form

i know what to do when its in the denominator ie: 1/x = x^(-1), 1/(x^2) = x^(-2), 2/x^3 = 2x^(-3), etc

but i have no clue what to do when its in the numerator

i know its gonna be simple- so a quick explation and maybe a few examples would be greatly appreciated

movies, music, games, tv shows, politics, culture, even stand up comedy, which was the only thing i could really enjoy anymore- literally every possible entertainment medium becoming detestable; with the stuff I hate becoming more and more prevalent, and mainstream- while the very few things I actually enjoy in life are quickly disappearing.

I can't watch tv or movies, I can't play games, I cant hang out with friends, its getting to the point where I cant even go on the internet to escape this increasingly hateable reality. it seems like every day I come across multiple instances that cause me to lose faith in humanity or just feel like quitting life. I have very few friends (only one of whom even lives in the same town anymore), i have no job, no money, no idea what i want to do in the future- all the while everything and everyone around me just becoming more and more repugnant.

I take absolutely no joy out life anymore. I have pretty much lost the will to do anything. Its gotten to the point where I legitimately contemplate suicide several times a day- and the handful of reasons keeping me from doing so are pretty much gone.

I just don't know what to do anymore.

this isnt just me complaining- im looking for your input on it.

i've been a stand up comedy nerd for a while now- and it just feels like comedy has been going more and more downhill. its like all creativity is disappearing and comedy is being taken over by terrible 'alt' comics who just talk and people laugh when they think they're supposed to laugh. its like comedy for hipsters. rory scovel, joe mande, neal brennan- ive tried watching all these new guys but they are just unbearably bad to me. joe mandes closing bit was about the first guy to drink milk- a hack premise that everybody got tired of when they were 5- but he kept going and going and going- yes, its white like come, we get it, quit dragging it on.

its like comics today just talk. no creativity, no clever observations, no interesting stories, no anything. what happened to real comedy? the doug stanhopes, and patrice oneals, and dave attells, and mitch hedbergs? all replaced by dumb characters, silly voices, and nerdy references.

a few years ago we had insomniac, chappelles show, and tough crowd- now we have workaholics, key and peele, and the big bang theory.

what is happening to comedy- and how do you feel about it?

probably a simple explanation- but i just dont get it. need it to finish a homework problem

and please dont just say some nonsesne like "just mix powdered sugar and water"- it tastes nothing like it.

i really liked the hannibal lector movies-(well i havent seen hannibal rising because ive heard nothing but negativity concerning it)- and i was considering reading the books now too. however i do not like reading very much, and it tends to be a tedious annoying activity most of the time- even if its something i am reading voluntarily. im 21 and have only read about 6 books- 4 of which being harry potter books. its not that i hate reading (when its something interesting)- but my lazy eye acts up and my eyes cant focus and i get really tired and drowsy

I really like hannibal lector- but i dont want to read the books if they dont have anything new/better to offer- otherwise it'd just be a chore
