How desperate has the IRL become just to get butts in the seats?
So I open the mail today and inside one letter from Infineon Raceway is a FREE Sunday raceday ticket to the Indy race at that track later this month. The thing has a $55 face value. Apparently I got it for buying a pair of the cheapest NASCAR tickets available to the race up there in June. Plus I get 20% off any other tickets I might want to buy.
How desperate must the IRL and Infineon be to get someone, ANYONE to come to the IRL race there if they're giving away free tickets to joe blow NASCAR fan like me? I mean I've heard of giving tickets to charities or corporate sponsors... but to average race fans? Ticket sales must be really slow to the Infineon race.
And her's a sub question, if this is the case, does IRL have any future on the west coast? Champ Car seems to be doing pretty good out here... but no IRL.

Which series do you think has better at the track attendance this season for their race weekends?
3 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoHow well will Sebastien Bourdais do in F1 next season?
He's been the dominant force in Champ Car for 4 seasons now. How do you think he'll fare in F1 vs the likes of Alonso and Hamilton? Will his driving skill improve Toro Rosso? Or is the machinery disparity so great in F1 that he'll never overcome it to get close to the McClarens and Ferraris?
9 AnswersFormula One1 decade agoIs F1 abandoning North America?
I've heard rumors that F1 is planning on pulling out of the Canadian Grand Prix after 2008, leaving North America with no races? Has anyone else heard this or know if it's true? If so it's a big blow to F1 as they'll be leaving the most lucrative market on the planet and abandoning not one but two of their most popular races both on TV and in person in both the US and now Canada.
9 AnswersFormula One1 decade agoWhy isn't there a Champ Car section in Auto Racing?
We have IRL, F1, and NASCAR... but why isn't the Champ Car World Series represented? They're at least as big as IRL and have a larger worldwide audience. Is it because they don't have Danica Patrick? They do have Catherine Legge and she's just as good looking as Danica, minus the big mouth and bad attitude.
