I've heard recordings of pyrophone music (also known as a fire organ) and would like to buy or construct one. Where can I purchase a pyrophone or obtain instructions on how to construct one?

My career goal is to become a university professor of musicology. I'm working on my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education (with a minor in Religious Studies). After I get my master's degree in musicology, I'd like to get my doctorate specializing in religious music (from an academic standpoint). In preparation for this, I'd like to start getting a collection of hymnals from different faiths together. Right now, I only have two: Hymns of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (in English and French) and Pilgrim Hymnal (formerly used by the United Church of Christ in my town).

Since I'm interested in music of all religions, I was wondering if I could get recommendations of hymnals of the following religions:

Judaism

Islam

Hinduism

Buddhism

Shintoism

Confucianism

Zoroastrianism

Taoism

Any others (I can't think of any more at the moment).

Recommendation for other Christian hymnals are also welcome, particularly from Catholicism or Orthodoxy.

One of my co-workers is looking at a copy of the NIV Bible for personal use. On Amazon, she found a "Worship Bible" and a "Church Bible" from the same publisher. If the content is essentially the same, she and I are wondering what the difference between the two is. Is it a physical difference (binding, cover, etc.)?

I have been researching the issue of GLBT equality and this came up as something I didn't quite understand.

I was talking with one of the chaperons on a marching band trip and I mentioned to her that I'm considering the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY. She told me that there's a good music school in Ottawa, relatively near Potsdam. She couldn't remember the name though- can you tell me any good music schools in Ottawa?

I recently started listening to Daft Punk (I've only heard two or three songs so far). Being a jazz fan usually, I was wondering what the specific difference is between house music (which Wikipedia classifies Daft Punk as) and techno (the more generic term I've heard applied to them).

I recently read The Idiot's Guide to Islam, out of curiosity as to what beliefs are shared between Muslims and those of my faith. I am curious as to whether or not there are any published books on Zoroastrianism of the same nature.

I'm essentially looking for a book I can read that is detailed yet concise-I'm not looking to take a college course on Zoroastrianism but I'd like to learn more about the religion's beliefs.

(If any Muslims or Zoroastrians read this, I don't mean to be patronizing or rude by using the Idiot's Guide as an example of what I'm looking for...I apologize if I offend :-/ )
