  • First thing that comes to mind when you think of these religions...?

I saw another question dealing with stereo types and it got me thinking...about stereotypes for other religions, and what information seems to stick with people. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you see:

    1.)Mormon

    2.)Catholic

    3)Hindu

    4.) Jew

    5.) Muslim

    6.) Christian

    7.) Atheist

    9.) Wicca

    10.) Scientology

I do not mean any offense I am just curious.

  • What turns a religion into a myth?

Why are many religions of old (that of Zeus, Odin, Horus, etc) now considered myths. What makes the distinction between religion in myth. I am not trying to cause contention I am curious, is it the laws and codes that come with religion?

  • Do you believe the robot that operates on brain tissue to have a soul.?

Do believe in the idea of a soul? What constitutes the soul? Is it purely conscious? Would this robot that moves only under the operation of his brain be considered conscious? I find these ideas fascinating. Would love other peoples input as I love learning about other peoples beliefs.

  • Are there any concepts unique to Christianity?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I just got done reading an answer to a question, that says Christianity will win out because it's so unique. I started to wonder how unique is it?

  • No reception if you don't get married in the Temple?

My brother just got married in December. He did not get married in the LDS temple. the Stake president said that they shouldn't do a reception since they were not married in the temple. Is this something the whole church does or just this Stake?

  • Mormons and Former Mormons...?

I was wondering what you first thought when you went to the temple. I have never been to the temple for endowments, but when I went to baptisms for the dead I felt a little uncomfortable. I always felt bad that I felt this way, and I don't know why. I just wanted to hear how other people felt. This is a serious question, no rude comments please.

  • I need some advice...?

Okay here is the details: I grew up as a member of the LDS church, most of my extended and all of my immediate family are still very active in the church. I have a brother who is a returned missionary and another one that is about to go on a mission. I began having doubts about the church when I was a teenager but I continued to go to church with my parents to make them happy. As soon as I moved out of the house though I stopped going to church. At 19 I finally told my dad I didn't believe in the church anymore. There is always the feeling that they think my husand(who is Muslim) is going to convert. My dad always says that he feels that some day my husband will become Mormon, whether in this life or the next. I also feel that my dad still thinks I will go back to church someday. I feel this thinking might be my fault as I have kept my name on church records and talk to the missionaries just to make him happy. In reality I haven't been to church regularly in over two years. Do you think I am just leading him on, do you think it is worse that I am giving him the impression that I might still come back to the church(of course if there was sure evidence that I found that the church was true I would come back, but for now I just don't see it) I am just not sure what to do. Sorry this question has sort of turned into a long one. Is there anyone who has had or is going through a similar experience?

  • I watched the Lord's boot camp the other day...?

and I was a little disturbed that they only talked to children and elderly people, it felt like they were going for people that were more impressionable...I was just wondering if anyone else saw the special and what your thoughts are.

also I don't mean to come off as rude, it just gave me an uneasy feeling when they were at the nursing home, and then again when they were giving that "survey" at the fair in Indiana.

I thoroughly enjoyed when the young missionaries washed the kids feet and then gave them shoes in Kenya though.

  • What can I do to help me not think about babies so much?

My husband and I have been married for over two years, and I have caught baby fever. My husband however has told me that he is not ready. So I have tried taking up hobbies being around kids at work. Nothing seems to get my mind off of having a baby. I have a wonderful husband we are both working and I just feel like there is something missing. I dream about babies, I look at the baby section in stores, and I read about baby advice on the internet. I feel like I am becoming obsessed, is there something wrong with me?
